Vaughan Williams: Job & Symphony No. 9 - Bergen Filharmoniske Orkester, Sir Andrew Davis, Ralph Vaughan Williams. Лента с персональными рекомендациями и музыкальными новинками, радио, подборки на любой вкус, удобное управление своей коллекцией. The Symphony No. 9 in E minor was the last symphony written by the British composer Ralph Vaughan Williams. He composed it from 1956 to 1957 and it was given its premiere performance in London by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Malcolm Sargent on 2 April 1958, in the composer's eighty-sixth year. It was subsequently performed on 5 August 1958 by the BBC Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Malcolm Sargent at a Promenade Concert. Vaughan Williams died three weeks later, on 26 August. The pairing of Vaughan Williams' Job and his Symphony No. 9 is a logical one, not least because of the prominent role given to saxophones in both works. Vaughan Williams called Job a masque, following old English usage, but it's a ballet in all but name, and like many of them it succeeds as a standalone orchestral work. Here and elsewhere, Vaughan Williams' sizable orchestra is expertly teased out into its individual strands by Sir Andrew Davis and the Bergen Philharmonic. This care serves the music well in the Symphony No. 9, Vaughan Williams' last one, and a rather enigmatic work. Sir Andrew Davis and the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra find new shades in Ralph Vaughan Williams Ninth Symphony. The orchestra bites hard into the composers dense polyphony, creating spellbinding swells of brass, strings, and even saxophones. The symphonys tranquil final movement takes on its own gripping temporality in this fine reading. Andrew Davis -Symphony No. 9 in E Minor: I. Moderato maestoso. 9 in E Minor: II. Andante sostenuto. 9 in E Minor: III. Allegro pesante. 9 in E Minor: IV. Andante tranquillo - Poco animato. Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra - Sir Andrew Davis. Album Summary. Vaughan Williams, Ralph : Job. Vaughan Williams, Ralph : Symphony no 9 in E minor. Davis, Andrew. Now, conducting the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, that other expert in British repertoire, Sir Andrew Davis, takes on the challenge of completing the series with idiomatic interpretations of two masterpieces: the final Symphony and the ballet Job. The score of Job places an emphasis on tableau-like scenes, dances, and mime, linking it to a tradition of English ballet with dances from the seventeenth century, including the saraband, pavane, and galliard. 15 Symphony No. 16 Job, Scene 3: Minuet of the Sons of Job & Their Wives.
