America Must Be Destroyed is Gwars third album, released in 1992 as their second album on Metal Blade Records. The albums lyrical content was inspired by controversy over obscenity charges against the band and an incident in Charlotte, North Carolina in which frontman Dave Brockies prosthetic penile attachment, The Cuttlefish of Cthulhu, was confiscated by police officers. Gwar - Gor-Gor. 12 tracks 47:46. From the beginning, it's been one of Gwar's tricks to riff on the clichés of heavy metal while writing capably within the genre. The band's third effort presents a clutch of songs that don't disappoint in the grosser than gross category, but also feature tighter pacing and better performances. Note-perfect thrash opener Ham on the Bone should confuse anyone who hasn't yet figured out the joke. Lyrically, Gwar is up to its old tricks, presenting. Released in 1992, America Must Be Destroyed is the first GWAR album with decidedly political themes. A majority of the tracks feature some form of obscenity, with standouts Have You Seen Me and Rock N Roll Never Felt So Good combining over-the-top sexually explicit lyrics with incredibly taboo subject matter. The members of GWAR wrote the album to be a direct stance against organizations like the Parents Music Resource Center, as well as daytime TV talk shows covering fear-mongering stories of children being corrupted by explicit music and violent television.
